Beth El Temple Religious School

The Beth El Temple Religious School offers a full-service program for children in pre-school through grade seven. Beginning in grade three, students attend classes one weekday afternoon and Sunday morning for a total of five hours weekly.

Our school has been recognized nationally by the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism with Solomon Schechter Awards, given for excellence in synagogue programming, in the areas of Elementary Education and Family Education. As our mission statement states, “It is the goal of the Religious School to instill within the children a love for Jewish learning, which is a lifelong process.  We educate our children, in partnership with their families, to become knowledgeable, practicing Conservative Jews, devoted to lives of Torah and Mitzvot, and committed to God.  We are committed to providing a caring, supportive, and joyous atmosphere where children learn to value their Jewish identity. We strive to teach Jewish ethics and respect for the individual worth of each student as well as respect for the entire community.  As members of the Jewish people, we seek to build a strong sense of identification with and responsibility for Jews throughout the world and a special identification with the Jews of Israel.”

We read in Pirkei Avot (Ethics of the Sages) I:2: “The world stands on three things – study of Torah, service of God and acts of lovingkindness.” With this teaching as our guide, our students study Hebrew language, prayer, Bible, holidays and customs, Jewish history and values. Experiential learning opportunities and creative teaching techniques implemented by our experienced faculty provide a special excitement to our Religious School program.

Our special education coordinator works with teachers to evaluate student needs and implements individualized programs with the help of student tutors. Parents connect to our school through Mishpachot, our PTO, and participate in their children’s learning by way of family programs, “Parent Pages”, and P.E.R.E.K., which provides them with serious adult learning opportunities.
