Baby Naming
Trditionally, the birth of a baby girl is celebrated when the parents of the child are given an aliyah to the Torah in the synagogue on a Shabbat morning approximately one month after their daughter's birth. In some traditions, such as the Sephardic tradition, the baby naming is held at home. This is called a Simcha Bat.
To arrange a baby naming, contact the Temple office and ask to speak to the Rabbi. The Rabbi will meet with the family, either in person or by phone, to discuss the details of the baby naming. The family will be asked to fill out an informational form (the form can also be downloaded -- see the Form section on the right-hand side of this page). The Rabbi will coordinate with the family to set a time for the baby naming.
To arrange a Kiddush in celebration of the baby naming, contact the Temple office.
