USY

USY (United Synagogue Youth) is an international teen organization under the auspices of the United Synagogues of Conservative Judaism. Beth El Temple sponsores a local chapter, and all high school students are invited to join: membership at Beth El is not required. The mission of Beth El United Synagogue Youth is to involve high schooler's in social, religious, and social action activities.

All USY chapters are peer-led. Officers are elected each spring to serve the following year, and include vice presidents for membership, social action, programming, religious education, and Israel affairs. USYers plan events such as game nights, movie nights, ice skating, leading services, chocolate seder, a mitzvah fair and so much more.Meetings and program timing vary each month.

Our chapter is a member of the Hanefesh USY region, covering all of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. Region events include weekend conventions where the goal is to have fun being Jewish, surrounded by other Jewish kids. Other popular regional events include the semi-annual dances, the annual Boat Cruise, and the International Convention, held during the traditional December school break.
