Community You Can Believe In

Jews in Hollywood: In Front of and Behind the Screen

We invite you to join us for a breakfast with Daniel M. Kimmel, an American film critic and author. Kimmel is also a previous editor of Boston based “The Jewish Advocate." He brings us a history of Jews and the movies, from the moguls like Louis B. Mayer, Harry Cohn, Samuel Goldwyn, and the Warner Brothers, who helped found Hollywood, to contemporary filmmakers like Stephen Spielberg and Woody Allen. In the talk, he covers the changing way Jews have been portrayed on screen, and how changes in the Jewish community led to changes on screen as well. Films touched on include “The Jazz Singer,” “Gentleman’s Agreement,” “Marjorie Morningstar,” “Annie Hall,” and many others.

This program is brought to you by Men's Club and is free and open to all, but please RSVP to Jacob Kovel (860-651-9366 or eaglewars@aol.com) by December 7th.
