Simchat Torah LIVE!
Simchat Torah – literally rejoicing with the Torah – is one of the most fun holidays we have. It’s all about joy, togetherness and, of course, eating. During Simchat Torah we finish reading the Torah’s fifth book, Deuteronomy, and immediately start reading the first book, Genesis. You can think of it as our version of Back to the Future.
The celebration is all wrapped up in what’s known as Hakafot, translated as circles of celebration with the Torah. We’ll dance twice this year: on the evening of October 1 and again the morning of October 2.
All of our Torah scrolls will come out of the Ark for dancing. One Torah scroll will be open for you to take a moment to find your – or your child’s – Bar or Bat Mitzvah portion.
This is an adult-friendly, kid-friendly, singles-friendly holiday. Open to the community – join the fun with our Shabbat Live! band, Men’s Club martini table, blessing of new babies, children’s celebrations, and more!
