Book in the Sukkah with Jennifer Anne Moses
Tuesday, Oct 3rd 5:45p to 7:30pWomen's Network is hosting author Jennifer Anne Moses in the sukkah for a conversation about her first book of short stories, The Man Who Loved His Wife. Moses is the author of several books, including Food and Whine, Bagels and Grits, Tales from My Closet and The Art of Dumpster Diving, and has also published dozens of essays, articles, Op Ed pieces, and short stories. According to The Jerusalem Post, the 13 stories in this book give us "a wry, unsentimental commentary on modern Jewish American life. Her great skill is in conjuring up from her most fertile imagination wholly believable human beings, complete with their strengths and weaknesses, and carving out a slice of their existence for us." Moses tells the stories of regular people faced with the problems of daily life but weighted with the 4000-year-old history of Judaism. These wide-ranging stories are by turn funny, sly, poignant, and intelligent, but they share one common trait: they are all thoroughly and profoundly Jewish. We hope that you can join us for this great conversation and great company, and of course, delicious snacks and drinks!

Annual Turkey Drive for JFS
Sunday, Nov 19th 9:00a to 12:00pThe need for turkey donations is great this year, as there are so many in our community who risk going without a holiday meal. Thanks to your generosity last year, we were able to feed all of the JFS families! This year we know we need 275 frozen turkeys (155 non-kosher and 120 kosher) to feed the families who need our help. Please bring your frozen turkeys (kosher or non-kosher), pop your trunks and one of our volunteers will be there to assist you. Bags of side dish ingredients will be available at the Crown Market, with the Rosenberg Toro families matching all bag donations! If you cannot bring a turkey or side dish donation bag, a cash or check donation (made payable to Jewish Family Services with "food pantry" in the memo line) is also very much appreciated. This event will take place rain or shine!
