Our Cemetery
Our Cemetery
More than 60 years ago, when Beth El’s founders were establishing our cemetery, they envisioned a place of honor and dignity to the deceased and a source of comfort to visitors. Over those years, Beth El has worked very hard to live up to our founders’ dreams.
Our cemetery is located in a peaceful, beautiful section of Avon, CT. We welcome all of the Jewish faith for burial in our Cemetery. Our rabbinic staff usually officiates at burials; others may serve in that capacity with permission from our rabbis.

To ensure that our cemetery maintains the beauty that our founders intended, Beth El Cemetery By-laws and Rules and Regulations set out standards for monuments, footstones and decorations as well as who may be buried in a multi-grave plot.
Members receive a discounted price on both graves and burial fees. Please contact the Beth El office at (860) 233-9696 for pricing information. We are happy to meet with you at the synagogue and/or visit the cemetery with you to discuss your needs. Please contact Beth El Executive Director Rabbi Howard Sowalsky (phone number above) or hsowalsky@bethelwh.org or Cemetery Committee Chair Lois Koteen at cemetery@bethelwh.org.
