Annual Turkey Drive for JFS

The need for turkey donations is great this year, as there are so many in our community who risk going without a holiday meal. Thanks to your generosity last year, we were able to feed all of the families who reached out to JFS in need! With your help we can help make Thanksgiving a holiday everyone in our community can celebrate! We collected 246 turkeys and more than $8300 in cash and checks last year for the Anja Rosenberg Kosher Food Pantry at JFS. This effort allowed JFS to purchase much-needed additional kosher turkeys to satisfy all their client needs in addition to some last minute turkeys donated from FoodShare. We are determined to help even more families this year. Please bring a frozen KOSHER turkey on Sunday, November 23, between 9am and noon at Beth El Temple. Volunteers will collect turkeys or checks (made out to Jewish Family Services with "food pantry" in the memo). In addition to the turkeys, JFS prepares special grocery bags to turn the turkey meal into a feast! It includes cans of vegetables, fresh potatoes and onions, packets of seasonings, and other fixings. You can donate a bag for $30 when you check out at the Crown Market, or by clicking here. For the cost of each donated bag, the Rosenberg Toro families will match those funds to provide comprehensive services to JFS clients! |
