Youth & Family Programs
Beth El and Your Family
The family is the key to the survival of the Jewish people, and parental involvement is crucial to the development of a child’s Jewish identity. Guided by these ideas, our educational program (together with our rabbis and cantor), provides many opportunities for family experiential learning.
Together, we explore the ways that Judaism can add richness to our lives. Our hope is that all of us, families and teachers, will be engaged, be inspired, be challenged, be fulfilled, and yes, be joyous as we learn together.
When is Family Learning Scheduled?
Family learning is scheduled by grade level, giving parents and children the opportunity to explore together age-appropriate topics. These programs take place on Sunday mornings during regular class time. Participating with your child is important; we have seen over time that children are disappointed when a parent or other relative cannot attend. Parents of day school students are invited to participate as well.
Mitzvah and Munchies
Our Parent Action Group (PAG) also plans learning experiences during the year, such as the very popular Mitzvah and Munchies program scheduled after SULAM on various Sunday mornings. Learners and their parents enjoy a light lunch and work on a specific caring for the world mitzvah project.
Special Shabbat and Holiday Programs
Throughout the year, families are also invited to participate in special Shabbat and holiday programs. It is our hope that by learning and sharing together, our children come to see that Judaism and Jewish values are an integral and important part of daily living.
We look forward to seeing you at our family programs!

AprApril 27 , 2021So You Want to Talk About Race
Tuesday, Apr 27th 8:00p to 9:00p
Joy Wright, Principal of King Philip Middle School, will facilitate a discussion of the NY Times bestseller, "So You Want to Talk About Race" by Ijeoma Oluo. This is a continuation of BET's conversation about antiracism and unconscious bias. "In this breakout book, Ijeoma Oluo explores the complex reality of today's racial landscape--from white privilege and police brutality to systemic discrimination and the Black Lives Matter movement--offering straightforward clarity that readers need to contribute to the dismantling of the racial divide. [T]his book is much-needed and timely. It is more than a primer on racism. It is a comprehensive conversation guide." - National Review of Books Click here for more information and to register. -
