Please join us for the Men’s Club kickoff breakfast featuring a writer who is back by popular demand, Avon’s Joel Samberg. Joel, an author and journalist, has written on many topics, including Jewish themes for books and magazines. His new novel, Blowin' in the Wind, a sweeping Jewish-American suburban saga filled with comedy, drama, and music, centers around the life of a young musical prodigy as he and his family navigate the turbulent 1960s. Joel—who will also discuss some other intriguing topics he’s covered (and the various challenges inherent in his profession)—has five nonfiction books to his credit, including "Reel Jewish: A Century of Jewish Movies," "Some Kind of Lonely Clown: The Music, Memory & Melancholy Lives of Karen Carpenter," and a book about his grandfather, the Jewish novelty entertainer Benny Bell, whose popular song "Shaving Cream" was a hit in 1946 & 1975 and is still popular today. A Q&A session will conclude the program, followed by a book signing. RSVP: by October 30th to Jacob Kovel (860-651-9366 or eaglewars@aol.com) This free breakfast program is sponsored by the family of Stanley Wiesen in his memory.
