GHIAA House Meeting
Wednesday, February 28, 2024 • 19 Adar I 5784
6:30 PM - 8:00 PMBeth El Temple, 2626 Albany Avenue, West Hartford, CT 06117Beth El Temple is co-hosting a House Meeting as part of our work through the Greater Hartford Interfaith Action Alliance (GHIAA)
In these gathering sessions, we:
- identify issues that are affecting our community
- hear direct impact stories
- identify leaders to make positive change
- build connections and strengthen our relational network.
Our Beth El community is co-hosting this house meeting with Asylum Hill Congregation on Wednesday, February 28, from 6:30-8:00pm at Beth El. We value your opinions, and we'd truly love to have you there. Registration is required -- and you can do that by clicking here.
During each house meeting, we'll divide into small groups to share personal stories of struggles you are facing, the forces you or your loved ones are contending with, and the wrongs in our community that need to be made right. The house meeting process is how GHIAA identifies the issues that are chosen for a social justice action campaign.
Our stories will shape GHIAA’s next issue platform. Please attend and bring other Beth El family and friends. We look forward to hearing your stories as we deepen our relationships and move forward in our shared work of justice.

MarMarch 20 , 2025God is Here: Exploring Metaphors for the Divine
Thursday, Mar 20th 6:00p to 7:30p
Join Rabbis Debra Cantor and Rachel Zerin for a hands-on exploration of different metaphors for the Divine. These metaphors are all deeply rooted in Jewish tradition, while broadening the ways we think about, talk about, and relate to God and the idea of the Holy. Inspired by Rabbi Toba Spitzer's book "God is Here: Reimagining the Divine," we will use text study, discussion, writing, art, ritual, and more to think about how language and metaphor shape our experiences - and how language and metaphor can either limit or expand how we experience holiness in our lives.
