Women's Network presents an interview with Beth El Temple member Julie Sherman Wolfe, screenwriter for The Hallmark Channel. Free for all Beth El members. Join us to hear tales from Connecticut movie shoots, what it's like to create a film (from start to finish!), and how Julie got her start in this exciting industry.

Hallmark movies are the perfect escape and may be just what we all need right now! Julie's latest film is a hockey romance set in Avon and Hartford. Upcoming showtimes for "Taking a Shot at Love" include Friday, January 29, at 6pm, and also on February 18th and 27th, so be sure to set your DVRs! Click here for more information about the movie.

Julie Sherman Wolfe has been a professional screenwriter for nearly 25 years. In 2017, Julie and her family fulfilled a lifelong dream to relocate from Los Angeles to New England. They now live happily in their own "Real Life Hallmark Movie," where the only traffic is waiting for the occasional bear to cross the street.

Conversation About Sisterhood and Mental Health with Betsy Lerner, Author of Shred Sisters
Thursday, May 8th 6:00p to 8:00p
In recognition of May being Mental Health Awareness Month, Women's Network has invited author Betsy Lerner to discuss her debut novel, Shred Sisters. This intimate and bittersweet story explores the fierce complexities of a suburban Connecticut Jewish family, mental health, and a hard-won path between two sisters. Published in October of 2024, it has been nominated for a Goodreads Choice Award and has garnered many other accolades, including New York Times Notable Book of the Year, New York Times Book Review Editor's Choice and Best Book of the Year So Far, and Good Housekeeping October Book Club Pick. Ms. Lerner was already well-known for her earlier memoirs, Food and Loathing and The Bridge Ladies. We will also hear from the CEO of Jewish Family Services for further insights about their mental health services. A light supper will be served. This event is co-sponsored by Women's Network and The Emanuel Synagogue's Membership and Engagement Committee.
